How long does the My Home Energy Report visit take?

Please allow at least an hour. Older homes and large homes may require more time.

Do I need to be at home for the inspection?

Yes. It is important for the interviewing portion that someone very familiar with the home (and over the age of 18) is home at the time of the visit.

How much does the My Home Energy Report cost?

Currently, Wesson Energy is offering this service free to all its customers.

How do I need to prepare my house for the inspection?

The only component that requires you to prepare for is a blower door test. Please do not use your fireplace for 24 hours before our arrival; otherwise we will not be able to perform that test.

How do I get my report after the home visit?

You must provide an email to the technician so that he can send you an email with the login information. A link to a secure website will be provided. You will need to use your email and zip code to view the report.

How does this help me make an energy plan?

The report will site recommendations by our technician on all the things you can do to improve your homes overall energy, safety and health performance. You can use the FIXIT list tool and add the things you want to tackle onto your “road to a healthy home”. The information will stay on your road and you can access the report 24/7 for as long as you like! If you have a service contract with Wesson to do an annual tune and test on your heating and cooling equipment, we will update the report during those visits to see if you have done any work or perhaps are ready to and need Wesson’s help.

How do I go about doing the work to make my home more energy efficient?

Just ask us! That’s what we are here to do. If you need work done that we don’t do, we will sub contract the work and oversee it to completion. The first step is the report, but the actual implementation of upgrades and retrofits is where the real savings are.

Can I have both the My Home Energy Report and the Home Energy Solutions program?

Yes you can. Because the Home Energy Solutions program is controlled by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, we must first screen you for eligibility in the program. For example, you have to have an electric account number and cannot have participated in the program in the past.
